Local Recreation Areas
Xenia Lake Campground
Xenia Lake lies within the boundaries
of Gladstone Provincial Park approximately 25 kilometers
north of Grand Forks, British Columbia. Access to the
lake is limited as the upper section of road is really
rough. When you arrive at the lake there is an outhouse
washroom facility, a few picnic tables and a rough area
to launch your boat. There is not necessarily camp sites
but there are a few places for tents and overnights
can be rugged. The lake area is great for most
outdoor recreational activities but is prime for camping,
fishing, hiking, mountain bike, ATV and dirt bike. The
campsite is maintained by BC Parks and is usually visited
3-4 times per year for maintenance. A hiking trail
further east will take you to the top of the bluffs
that overlook the north end of Christina Lake.
A raft built by
locals a few years back was recently removed from the
lake and many were upset by this decision. The raft
was excellent for those that wanted to go for a float
on the lake. The facilities could be upgraded to offer
visitors better access, upgraded campsites, boat launch
area possibly with a dock, informational and firewood
booths with a wash area for cleaning fish and food etc..
A few minor modifications could easily enhance the site
making for a better camping experience for all users.
Many agree that the road and lake area should be left
alone and the Grand Forks ATV Club aims to better communication
between BC Parks and those that use this recreation
site.
28 Mile Bridge
At the end of the paved Granby Road,
approximately 43 kilometers north of Grand Forks British Columbia,
28 Mile bridge takes a left over Burrell Creek.
Once across the bridge, the camp site is just to the
left. This is a great place to trailer to, unload
the ATV and enjoy days of great ATV riding.
The campsite facilities are limited but being close
to Burrell Creek and the Granby River makes up for it.
Bluejoint Creek Provincial Camp
Site
Located approximately 60 kilometers
north of Grand Forks, this is a nice little campsite
on Bluejoint Creek. It offers an outhouse washroom
facility and a few picnic tables and is easy to access
by Forest Service Road. This area offers ATV enthusiasts
many options for riding including day trip loops and
close viewpoints. |
